SUZIE

JELLINEK

Darien, Connecticut

Suzie’s paintings are inspired by observing the natural world around her, she is curious about color relationships and organic forms found in nature. She explores what happens when we let go of the things we think are important, the objects, the titles and the identities that mask who we really are and the relationship these ideas play in opposition to nature. She asks the viewer to reconsider our beliefs, how we treat ourselves and other people is directly related to how we treat our planet. Her paintings are about coming back to what is really important and finding solace in nature and the magic around us that we take for granted. Suzie intentionally leaves parts or edges of the canvas unpainted so that the painting feels more organic, and not perfect. Suzie takes many photos in nature and then reinterprets them on the canvas into abstract landscapes. Suzie mixes most of her colors herself so she can get the exact color she desires.
