ARTIST | Matthew Farrar
Matthew Farrar is a British artist living and working in Los Angeles, CA. Farrar has been a photographer for over 20 years and he enjoys studying how the mind processes the images, and the deconstruction of structure into abstract patterns and form. He has exhibited his work throughout the United States and his work adorns the walls of many collectors globally.
The continuous cycle of the sun and the sea give rise to this series of photographs. It is late afternoon and for the sun it is time to move on and share the warmth with the world beyond our horizon. It heads westward in a shroud of white golden light which caresses the sea beneath into a calm, meditative breath as it too continues its tireless work. Until they both meet again in the East, color succumbs to form and being. The surface is calm and rises gently to the rhythm of my breath. A large intake of the fresh air and the wave quietly rises to reveal its glass like structure reflecting the white gold embers of its harmonious companion passing overhead. The finale is a glorious and euphoric crescendo reaching out across the sands to wet my tired feet. My thoughts are washed away and I am reset.
