BALANCE OF NATURE II
ARTIST | Tania Dibbs
Tania Dibbs' interest in the natural sciences guides her motivations and subject matter in her abstracted landscapes, she first paints a scene from nature, then covers it with a grid of paint, mimicking our interactions with the natural world. Based in Colorado, her work is shown and collected in the United States, Europe and Australia. She trained at the University of Virginia in biology as well as art.
Entropy and growth are in a constant dance with one another. Our relationship to nature places pressure on this dance and changes its patterns. Biology, though, adapts. It mutates and continues. Something dies; something else that can tolerate the new conditions takes its place. My drip paintings begin with the idea of these opposing forces, their interventions, and the patterns I imagine them to create.
