ALL FALL DOWN
ARTIST | Sallie White
Informed by the idea of impermanence, Sallie White’s layered, moody paintings invite the viewer’s emotional connection. White describes her process as one of addition, subtraction, construction, demolition—a building up and scraping away of marks and gestures. The artist lives and works in Greensboro, North Carolina. Her work is shown and collected throughout the United States.
The power in this piece lies in the interruption of what could have been safe or composed, eliciting a visceral response from the viewer. The risk of obscuring or deconstructing a composition in order to reveal its core truth and spirit is the ultimate goal of my work.
